International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) announces research position. The position is being offered for Developing Countries’ students in the field of Rice Transformation. Applicants applying for the position must have bachelor degree in agriculture or related field, or equivalent experience and at least 5 years of working experience.

Study Subject(s): Research grant is available in the field of Rice Transformation.

Course Level: This position is available for research program at International Rice Research Institute.

Eligibility:
-BS Agriculture or related field, or equivalent experience

-At least 5 years of working experience

-Proficiency in using Filipino and English languages.

Scholarship Open for International Students: The position is open for developing countries’ students.

Scholarship Description: The successful candidate will conduct experiments on rice tissue culture and transformation- increasing tissue culturability and transformation efficiency and support the laboratory’s transgenic rice production pipeline for trait development. She/he will assist in molecular analysis and phenotyping of transgenic materials. She/he will also encode and organize data, write reports and present the results in proper fora.

Roles and Responsibilities: -Produce transgenic lines from various constructs through Agrobacterium-mediated transformation- this covers tissue culture and transformation, planting and harvesting putative transgenic events, harvesting and processing of seeds

-Assist in the phenotyping of transgenic events in the laboratory, contained facility and transgenic screen houses

-Assist in laboratory-based screening and molecular analysis of transgenic plants

-Input and organize data and analyze results from transformation and screening experiments

-Write reports and presents paper/ poster in relevant conferences

-Perform all other related duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisors.
