It is said that if there are no ups and downs in your life, it means you are dead. Different lives have different ups and downs in differetn time. We all enjoy both happiness and misery.
As a vendor at night market and a graduate from Ramkhamhaeng University, I didn't think that I would have had a chance to study abroad in five different (Taiwan, Norway, Finland, Portugal and Hong Kong) countries for my Master and PhD degrees. There were many factors to make such thing happened i.e. determination and love in what I'm doing, and timing.
Different people have different attitudes towards studying overseas. People go to study abroad due to various reasons. I wouldn't had had the chance to study abroad if I didn't receive the scholarships. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy for me to get scholarships to study in these different universities in different countries. I had never applied to any scholarships before until I decided to study overseas. I then learned it through trail and error.
It was not? successful in the first year. English proficiency is also vital for studying abroad. It indeed took me for about 4 years to prepare myself in order to have adequate ability to use English. At the end of my 6 years studying overseas in different cultures, it has made me see things in more different perspectives, have more foreign friends from different countries, see the world in a more holistic view, and gain more academic knowledge from different styles.
One of my favorite quotes, '"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid." Albert Einstein
