Eligibility:
-A completed or almost completed Master degree, with excellent results, in a discipline related to agricultural science; the applicant?s last academic degree should not be more than six years ago; if an applicant already started with his/her PhD project, it should have started not more than three years ago
-A high proficiency of English (CEFR level: C1 or above), demonstrated by one of the following language certificates: TOEFL, with a minimum score of 550 PBT (paperbased test) / 80 IBT (Internet-based test); IELTS 6.5 or above; the Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English or an equivalent (native speakers and applicants who have completed their first degree fully in English do not have to provide an English proficiency certificate)
-Academic or vocational experience in one of the disciplines related to the thematic field of development and decent work
-Citizenship of an ODA recipient country.

Scholarship Description: The International Center for Development and Decent Work (ICDD) invites applications for a PhD scholarship position at the Universidad Aut?noma de Yucatan (Mexico) for a student from an ODA recipient country * , who aims to pursue his/her PhD in agricultural science. The ICDD is an interdisciplinary and international scientific network of excellence, with the head office located at the University of Kassel, Germany, and partner universities in Latin America, Africa and Asia. It is funded under the programme ?ex)/(ceed ? Higher Education Excellence in Development Co-operation? launched by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) via the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). The successful applicant will be based at the Universidad Aut?noma de Yucatan (UADY), Mexico, and enrolled in its PhD training programme. Moreover s/he will take part in the ICDD Graduate School?s international workshop programme on development and decent work issues, research methods or the linkage between theory and empirical research. Presentations of PhD projects will take place every year within the Graduate School. The scholarship will be awarded for two years with the precondition of successful admission as a PhD candidate of UADY and a successful evaluation by the ICDD after the first six months of the scholarship. The scholarship includes a monthly allowance of 500 Euro, the coverage of the tuition fees at UADY, the participation in the Graduate School and other ICDD activities as well as the possibility to apply for field research travel funds of the ICDD. Applying for a scholarship extension after two years maybe possible.
