To contribute to the professionalisation of the network of Alliances fran?aises in the Asia Pacific region, and with the support of the Alliancefran?aise Bangkok, the Alliancefran?aise Foundation is organizing the very first General Assembly for this region on the 14th, 15th and 17th of December 2012.
This meeting follows on those organized in Nairobiin 2009, Brusselsin 2010 and Rio in 2011, bringing together the Africa, Europe and Latin America andCaribbeannetworks respectively.
This general Assembly is an unique opportunity to gather?Alliancefran?aise officials of 25 countries of Asia Pacific, be they directors, deputy-directors, presidents or board members, along with local and French well known figures and to consider common problems with a view to strengthen their presence in their field of action.
250 persons have been invited.
125 persons from Alliances in the Asia Pacific region have signed up.
58 Alliances fran?aises shall be represented by 43 board members (including 26 presidents) and 82 Alliance staff members (including 61 directors and deputy-directors).

The meeting shall focus on the following themes?:
? What must be the specific mission of Alliances fran?aises in Asia Pacific?? and ? How to best manage and develop Alliances in this region of the world??
This shall also be an opportunity to assess the evolution of a network which at present includes 120 establishments. Each year, practically 115,000 students follow classes in the various Alliances of the Region, and this figure is constantly on the increase.
Two plenary sessions to be held in the auditorium of Alliancefran?aise Bangkok (Friday 14
th in the afternoon and the morning of Sunday 16
th) shall welcome well known figures such as Dr. Sumet TANTIVEJKUL, Secretary-General of the Chaipattana Foundation, Dr. Jingjai HANCHANLASH, President of AFB, Mr. Jean-Marc Chataigner, deputy-director-general of the Directorate General for Globalization of the French ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Mr. Thierry Viteau, Ambassador of France to Thailand.
The program also includes a full day of workshops forAllianceofficials, so as to enable them to exchange views regarding their daily work and challenges. The day will be concluded by professional meetings with partners to the event: CAVILAM-Alliance fran?aise , French as foreign language publishers : Cl? International, Hachette, Didier and ?Maison des langues as well as ?CIEP (InternationalCenterfor Education Studies), CCIP (ParisChamber of Commerce and Industry, CNED (National center for remote education) and ?Alkia.
An exchange between figures from the litterary world installed in Thailand and India shall focus on ?the Asia of literature? on Sunday, and shall bring together Elisabeth de CONDAPA, CEO of Kailash Publications in Pondicherry, John BURDETT, a British novelist, and Olivier JEANDEL, manager of the
Carnets d?Asie bookshops in Bangkok and Phnom Penh.
And throughout these 3 days of work and meetings, there shall be opportunities to relax and party organized with the Alliance fran?aise Bangkok ?savoir-faire?!
